Roma playmaker Paulo Dybala has exalted Francesco Totti for his accolades at the club, and believes the iconic Italian forward will remain the number 10 for the people. Before Dybala joined Roma, when his transfer saga was still alive, Totti commented on potentially handing the Argentine the iconic number 10 jersey – which was later turned down by Dybala himself.
Speaking to DAZN (via VoceGiallorossa), Dybala revealed the importance of the ‘10’ in Rome.
“Roma’s number 10 will always be Francesco Totti. For what Totti has done here, he will always be number one or number ten for the people. At Juventus, the club asked me to wear number 10 and it was a huge pleasure. Never say never, obviously it would be a unique responsibility. But I’m very happy with number 21, it has given me so much joy even if 10 is a special number.”
Dybala moved from Juventus at the start of the season, and has since enjoyed a fine run of form – scoring 16 goals in 34 appearances for Roma.
