Dybala Still on Two Saudi Teams’ Radar Past Key Deadline

The release clause of Paulo Dybala is no longer valid, but he’s still being targeted by at least a pair of Saudi teams. Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad tested the waters with Roma in recent days, Corriere della Sera informed (via Goal).

The suitors have proposed about €12M, which was the previous pre-determined figure. The Giallorossi can set whatever price tag they prefer now. The proposed salary to the player is very high. They won’t pull the trigger unless he asks for it. There are no indications he will.

While the fee would be low relatively speaking, it’d be a strong ‘plusvalenza’ for Roma, especially for an older player, since they onboarded Dybala on a free. Moreover, they’d save about €11M gross on his wages. His contract is up in 2025. There have been no talks to extend it yet.

If La Joya somehow departed, the Giallorossi would quickly target Federico Chiesa with determination. They have comparable wages. His valuation isn’t much higher given his messy situation at Juventus.

Our Take on Dybala and Saudi Arabia

There’d be some traction about his departure if it were a normal situation given the expiration date, but it clearly isn’t, and it’d be a major surprise if he left. He’ll probably just re-up his deal next spring or leave on a Bosman move again if they can’t reach an agreement. The capital club bagged his heir this summer, Matias Soulé, and things would be more streamlined tactically with Chiesa, but that shouldn’t affect the outcome.
