Dzeko Wondered whether Inzaghi Was Drunk before Attempted Sub

Edin Dzeko bagged a pivotal goal in the Fiorentina game, as he completed Inter’s comeback. He hit the net just as Simone Inzaghi was about to replace him with Alexis Sanchez. The same thing happened with Matteo Darmian, who found the target while Denzel Dumfries was about to come on.

Dzeko teased the coach right after the game: “Every goal is important to me. If it comes in these instances where it helps the team, then even better. The substitution? I will ask Inzaghi if he maybe had drunk something…”

“This was the win of a great team, and Inter are one. We struggled in the first half. The credit goes to Fiorentina, which are an excellent side. Luckily, we managed to stay close in the score, as they could have easily bagged another goal. They relented a little, while we were more cynical and put together a one-two punch that turned the table.”

Dzeko dished on his relationship with Lautaro Martinez to DAZN: “Strong players can always feature together. He is exceptional, and I am happy to play alongside champions. We hope we can win many more matches. Joaquin Correa joined last summer, as I did. He will entertain us as well. It does not matter who scores, as long as Inter are successful.”

Dzeko looked ahead at the clash with Atalanta: “This win was significant as Fiorentina will surely have a great season. We will enjoy it tonight, but tomorrow we will begin to prepare the next game, which is always the most important one.”
