Eden Hazard Expects to Be Ready for Euro after Injury-Riddled Season

Eden Hazard believes he will recover by the start of Euro 2020. The Real Madrid star missed the final part of the season with a thigh problem. He played just 21 matches in the 2020/21 campaign because of multiple injuries.

He spoke in a presser from the Belgian camp, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb: “I will be ready by the June 12th’s game; at least I hope so. I can contribute to the team even without being 100%, even though I obviously hope to be close to that. At 30, you always want to be in peak form and out there on the pitch. It has been a tough year, I will try to be in good shape for the opening match. We still have few days to prepare ourselves.”

“I was surprised by the fact that Thierry Henry returned as part of the coaching staff, but I am delighted for it. We had two strong years together. The players know him and he is an important figure inside the group.”

Hazard finished with a remark on Kevin De Bruyne: “I share his disappointment and it was cruel to see him sub off like that in a Champions League final. I suggested taking a week off to recuperate fully, especially mentally. He is a vital player for us.”

The Manchester City star suffered a nose and a left orbital fracture in a clash with Antonio Rudiger, who was wearing a protective mask. Despite the major injuries, he is currently expected to be able to participate in the Euro. Belgium will face Russia in their first game.
