Dzeko Tests Positive for Covid, Misses Genoa Match

Bad news for Roma as their captain Edin Dzeko tested positive for Coronavirus. It was Dzeko himself to officialize the news through his official Instagram account.

Dzeko’s post read:

“Hello everyone, unfortunately, I am positive for Covid19, and as you know, I will have to respect the quarantine period. I want to reassure everyone who knows me; fortunately, I have no particular symptoms. For a few days, I’ll be forced to stay away from my teammates, but with my mind and heart, I’ll stay with them, starting on Sunday: Go guys! Forza Roma!”

The Bosnian is now isolated and will stay at home for the next 10 days, after which he will undergo a new Covid test. Dzeko is not the first case of coronavirus infection at Roma. Before him six other players tested positive: Antonio Mirante, Carles Perez, Bruno Peres, Justin Kluivert, Riccardo Calafiori and Amadou Diawara.

Dzeko will of course skip this Sunday’s Serie A match against Genoa. He will also not join his National teammates for the upcoming Nations League games against the Netherlands and Italy scheduled on the 15th and 18th of November.
