Eintracht Frankfurt Lead Roma and Milan in Aouar Race

Milan and Roma have often been linked to Houssem Aouar in recent windows. The Giallorossi are particularly keen on adding him on a free at the end of his contract with Olympique Lyonnais. But Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly leapfrogged the competition.

According to Sport1, Die Adler offered the midfielder €3M per year plus a €5M signing bonus. He hasn’t inked a preliminary deal yet, which he can do since his current one runs out in June. But the negotiation is in its later stages.

French outlet RMC Sport confirms that Aouar is in advanced talks with Eintracht, but he hasn’t made the final decision yet because Roma, Napoli, Milan, Betis Sevilla, and Manchester United are also in on him.

The 24-year-old jokingly dismissed the report on Twitter.

“Some people know where I will play next season before I do… It’s great.”

If he does move to the Bundesliga side, he’d replace Daichi Kamada, who’s likely to depart on a Bosman move too, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

Our Take on Aouar, Roma, and Milan

We’ll see whether he’ll indeed join Eintracht Frankfurt. He was rumored to be very close to Betis in recent weeks. In any case, the two Italian teams don’t seem to have gone past initial inquiries. They both have a need in the role. It’d be a missed opportunity if they didn’t pursue him with more conviction. The Giallorossi could certainly use a creative midfielder that would join without spending much, while the Rossoneri are likely to lose Brahim Diaz.
