Jens Petter Hauge could not break through at Milan, but he could still help out his former team. The winger is currently on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt. The German side will automatically buy him out if they avoid relegation, Bild reports.
That is highly likely to happen, considering they currently have an 11-point cushion over the last three positions in the standings. Die Adler turned things around after a so-so start with a pair of winning streaks in November and December. With just nine matches to go, they are relatively safe even though they have been reeling a bit lately.
Milan will cash in €12M from the permanent sale of Hauge. They had paid €4.8M to sign him from Bodo/Glimt in 2020 after he impressed them during the Europa League playoffs. It will be another opportunity for the Rossoneri to rake in money from players not in their squad on top of the potential acquisition of Lucas Paquetà by PSG.
Hauge could not hit his stride in his short time at Milan. He was unable not outperform Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao, who was starting to break out at the time. He collected 24 appearances in 2020-2021, mostly off the bench and in Europa League, scoring five times. The 22-year-old has featured in 23 matches with Eintracht Frankfurt so far. He got off to a strong start in Bundesliga, but his playing time has dwindled following an injury in late December. He started six games this season, founding the target three times and providing an assist.
