Bologna have secured Union Saint-Gilloise central midfielder Oussama El Azzouzi on a permanent transfer. The Netherlands-born Morocco U23 international arrives as the fourth Rossoblu signing of the season, following the acquisitions of Sam Beukema, Stefan Posch, and Nikola Moro.
According to recent reports, El Azzouzi already underwent his medical examination in Bologna on Tuesday and is reportedly set to sign a four-year contract.
The FC Groningen academy product’s arrival does not come as a surprise, given the fact that Bologna were already searching for a player in his position following the strong exit links of Nicolas Dominguez and Lewis Ferguson. El Azzouzi was part of the Morocco U23 team that recently won the Africa U23 Cup of Nations at home in Morocco.
He leaves Union SG after just one campaign, having joined from FC Emmen in the summer of 2022. El Azzouzi scored two goals in 34 appearances for the Belgian Pro League giants.
