Stephan El Shaarawy dished on the Coppa Italia, Tammy Abraham, Nicolò Zaniolo, and José Mourinho to SportMediaset.

“We mustn’t underestimate the Genoa match and this competition. Winning the European Conference League gave us joy and satisfaction. We have to tackle it seriously and aim to go deep.”

“I don’t think we became less fierce after lifting a trophy, but we have had some problems scoring. The recent comeback proves that we always fight until the end. It wasn’t a first for us. We need to finalize better.”

The winger backed Abraham after the goal versus Milan.

“I hope it will get him going. He started slowly last season too, then we saw what he was capable of. Even if he doesn’t score, he’s important in the defensive phase. He had a great clearance in the previous game.”

“Our goal is to finish in the top four. We are three points away, we must stay close to the teams ahead of us. We believe we can achieve our objective.”

El Shaarawy closed with some remarks on Zaniolo.

“I think he still has a lot of untapped potential. He’s key for us and the national team. He has dealt with injuries in the last two years and needs to be more lucid in the box. I hope he’ll rectify that as soon as possible. He can be much better. He’s very serious and committed in practice.”

“Mourinho’s mentality is unique, and he’s a great coach and communicator. He talks with everybody in the same way. He has a lot more to accomplish with us. We see it in how he prepares practices. He cares deeply about Roma and doing well here.”
