Emerson Royal Winks at Milan Again as Talks Continue

Emerson Royal is eager to transfer to Milan and made his intentions known one more time in an interview with Brazilian publication O Globo.

“I’ve always said clearly that I’m very competitive and that being on the bench bothers me. I was angry about that and told it to the coach. It’s not the best situation for me. I’ve always acted professionally and practiced with maximum intensity. I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I’m not a backup.”

Emerson Royal was quizzed directly about the interest coming from Milan.

“It’s very special to learn that a team of this magnitude wants you. They are a reference point for Brazilian players. I just hope to be able to play regularly and be called up by the national team again. If it can’t happen at Tottenham, I want to go where it would be possible. I have to feature regularly with my club if to earn my way back to the Seleçao.”

According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan are confident they’ll eventually complete the Emerson Royal deal. Tottenham demand over €20M, while they offered less than €15M. They are plotting to up their proposal. Instead, they agreed to personal terms with the defender back in May.

The Spurs outcast would compete with Davide Calabria if he indeed transferred to the Rossoneri, starring opposite Theo Hernandez. In his first presser, coach Paulo Fonseca hinted that they were looking for a right-back but also suggested that they couldn’t field two agressive ones all the time.
