Enzo Le Fee Pressuring Rennes to Sanction His Roma Transfer

Rennes midfielder Enzo Le Fee is determined to leave his homeland and team up with Roma after agreeing on personal terms with the Giallorossi. According to French news outlet L’Equipe, the 24-year-old has informed the Ligue 1 outfit of his ambition to move to the Stadio Olimpico, keen to force a move after Les Rennais turned down Roma’s opening bid.

Le Fee and Roma have already found common ground. The player has accepted the Italians’ five-year contract offer. However, Roma’s initial approach fell on Rennes’ deaf ears. The French outfit refused a €18 million for their star playmaker on Friday.

That’s barely surprising, knowing Rennes forked out €20m to sign Le Fee from his boyhood club Lorient last summer. But the Roma target didn’t impress in his first season at Roazhon Park, drawing a blank in 25 league appearances. At least he amassed five assists from 35 matches.

Despite Le Fee’s unenviable numbers, Roma boss Daniele De Rossi sees him as a potentially valuable addition to his depleted midfield. Renato Sanches returned to Paris Saint-Germain after a disastrous season-long loan in Rome, while Houssem Aoaur failed to live up to the billing.

Lorenzo Pellegrini was the only creative midfielder for Roma in 2023/24, considering Leandro Paredes and Bryan Cristante have never been famous for their playmaking skills. Therefore, Le Fee could be just what the doctor ordered for De Rossi. But Roma must find a way to convince Rennes to give up their prized asset.
