European Powerhouses Eyeing Inter Star

The strong performances of Nicolò Barella have made noise around Europe and Barcelona and PSG have asked for information about his availability ahead of the summer window, today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport reports. The outlet adds that Inter have no intention of selling the 23-year-old midfielder and that they plan to extend his contract, increasing his wages, in the Spring of 2021.

Barella joined the Beneamata from Cagliari a year and a half ago, with a formula that included an initial €12M loan and a €25M obligation to buy plus future add-ons, with a projected cost of €45M, if not superior. He has collected 58 appearances since joining the club, scoring five goals. He has gone up a level this year, improving his playmaking skills and, as a matter of fact, he has already matched his whole production from 2019/2020 in terms of assists. He is coming off his first goal of the campaign against his old team on Sunday.

Our view

Barella’s age, motor and all-around skillset makes him a very intriguing option for any top team in the Old Continent and he has shined in the start of the season, showing very well in Champions League too, which has understandably turned heads. However, the Nerazzurri, which invested a significant sum to acquire him, rightly consider him a building block, so it would take a really mammoth offer to convince them to let him go.
