Everton Hinting at Roma Outcast, Napoli Keeping Potential Tabs

Roma central midfielder Gonzalo Villar has fallen out of contention under Jose Mourinho and the 23-year old is bound to move towards the exit door at the earliest. He had made 60 caps for Roma so far – with 58 of them arriving under former boss Paulo Fonseca.

According to Fichajes.net, Merseyside giants Everton are highly interested in the Giallorossi outcast. After having cleared James Rodriguez’s name from the club’s roster, the Toffees are looking for one player with versatile qualities.

Having been restricted to a fringe role under the Portuguese manager, Villar is expected to play a very minor role in Roma’s grander scheme of things.

The former Elche midfielder has a market value of €15m, according to transfermarkt. This is after his January 2020 move, when he was valued at just €4m by the Spanish minnows.

Apart from Everton, Serie A rivals Napoli are also said to be interested in the Spanish central midfielder. Either of the clubs interested could prove to be a way out for the talented midfielder, who is known to adopt versatile playing styles in tandem with his traditional role.
