Everton Nearing Acquisition of Lindstrom from Napoli

Everton set sights on Jesper Lindstrom a few days ago, and the negotiation with Napoli progressed nicely. They have reached an agreement in principle on the formula and the figures of the deal, Gianluca Di Marzio informs.

The attacker would transfer on an initial loan with an option to buy similar to the sum spent by the Azzurri to sign him from Eintracht Frankfurt, €25/30M. He has notched 29 appearances in his maiden Serie A season, although mostly off the bench.

Everton will have to convince Lindstrom to okay the move and haggle over his future personal terms should he be redeemed from Napoli. The 24-year-old broke out in the Bundesliga but failed to live up to expectations in Campania. Olympique Lyonnais and Marseille had also shown interest.

The Partenopei will mull adding another attacker should the deal come together. They made a late attempt for Mason Greenwood, but he has officially joined Olympique Marseille. According to Corriere dello Sport (via OneFootball), they have inquired about Domenico Berardi and David Neves. The Benfica winger is under contract until 2027. He has posted 5 goals and 8 assists in 24 domestic matches last season. He’s worth around €25M.

Our Take on Lindstrom, Everton, and Napoli

It’d be a great stroke of luck if they didn’t lose money on him, but that’ll hinge on whether he’ll eventually move permanently. There probably weren’t alternatives this summer. Considering the different scheme, they could be fine without an addition. They have Cyril Ngonge and Giacomo Raspadori behind the two strikers, and Michael Folorunsho can also star there.
