Ex-Inter President Wishes for Insigne Arrival, Praises Brazilian Ronaldo

Simone Inzaghi’s new look Inter are off to a flying start in Serie A, in a bid to hold on to their revered Scudetto title. The Nerazzurri have secured maximum points from two matches and are just behind first-placed Lazio in the table, having scored two goals less.

The club are coping well with the loss of star striker Romelu Lukaku, having brought in attacking forces from Roma and Lazio in Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa. However, another name to have been regularly linked with the Nerazzurri throughout the transfer window is Napoli ace Lorenzo Insigne.

Former club president Massimo Moratti spoke to about the Italian forward, in an exclusive radio interview. Speaking to the microphones of Radio Kiss Kiss (via FC Inter News), Moratti commented on whether he would like to see Insigne in Nerazzurri colours.

He said: “Yes, I’d like to see Insigne with the Inter shirt. I would have liked him, he would have done well and I’m sure of it. Lorenzo is really good.”

Moratti also compared the legacies of two of the greatest players ever to don the same name in Serie A – Ronaldo and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“In Italy we saw both, they are different players but Ronaldo is among the strongest 4-5 in football history. CR7 has built himself, he has merit, he did well, but he doesn’t have the talent to Ronaldo. The Brazilian was a real privilege,” he said.

Cristiano Ronaldo has left Juventus after three years at the club where he racked in 101 goals in 134 appearances.

He is currently the all-time top scorer in international football with 111 goals after breaking Iran legend Ali Daei’s 109 goal record – in a blitzkrieg seven-minute brace against Republic of Ireland.
