Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti has propelled his team to the top of Serie A standings, thanks largely to the fluid attacking style of play. The former Inter manager will face his former club Roma at the Stadio Olimpico over the weekend, and one of his former Giallorossi players has praised him for his adeptness when it comes to man management and tactical outlook.

Philippe Mexes took to the microphones of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb) and took the opportunity to talk about his former boss.

“Spalletti is one of the strongest coaches I’ve had in my career, if not the best ever.I go further, he is also among the best around. He has an obsessive care of everything, he manages every little bit. He is very well prepared on the pitch, he explains everything a football player needs. And of course, he also teaches you.”

The ex-Milan centre-back was not done commending the 63-year-old Italian tactician.

“He is good tactically, he also manages to instill determination in you, he brings out your personality, he is someone who has character and always succeeds in helping one give the best of themselves and then have fun with him.”

The Partenopei coach was appointed the head coach on 29 May, 2021. He has a 64.5% win percentage at the club – his highest tally since a one-season spell with Roma between January 2016 and May 2017.
