Ex Milan Talisman Heaps Praise on ‘More Confident’ Christian Pulisic

Olivier Giroud, who left Milan to embark on a new career in Major League Soccer over the summer, is impressed with Christian Pulisic’s form at the start of the season. The French veteran, now on Los Angeles FC’s payroll, waxed lyrical about the United States captain during his latest interview.

I think he’s got more trust in his game, more confidence,” Giroud said on CBS Sports Golazo Network’s Morning Footy. “He plays maybe with more freedom, and he’s playing every single game. He’s a very important player for Milan.

At Chelsea, he was in competition with so many wingers, and now he’s settling in really well at Milan. He loves the club and the city, and I think he can do a great season this year.

He deserves to win a trophy with this massive club so I’m not surprised that he’s doing well because last year, he really had a good season and he surprised me in the way he just adapted to Serie A,” the former Milan striker concluded.

Giroud’s assessment of Pulisic’s rise to stardom at San Siro is on the money. The versatile forward has been outstanding for Milan this season. The 26-year-old, buoyed by this newfound confidence, has tallied four goals and two assists in six competitive appearances.

Puisic has been the driving force for Milan, as most recently evidenced by his jaw-dropping solo goal in a 2-1 derby win against Inter on Sunday. It would be wrong to say his remarkable performance in the Derby della Madonnina saved Paulo Fonseca’s job.
