Ex-Roma Forward Pastore Reveals Failed Milan Dream

Former Roma forward Javier Pastore has revealed the Italian club he would actually have preferred playing for, despite his three-season stint with the Giallorossi. Pastore transferred from Palermo to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2011 but disclosed he would have rather chosen Milan.

Speaking ahead of PSG’s important UEFA Champions League group stage clash against the Rossoneri, Pastore looked back at his career.

“They were always special matches against Milan because it was the team in Italy that I liked the most. They had players like Kaká, Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso with whom I played on the PlayStation. They were my idols. We won almost all games against them in Coppa Italia and Serie A. Milan was the team I would have liked to go to after Palermo.” (via Gianluca Di Marzio)

Pastore had a few chances to move to San Siro but ultimately chose PSG.

“They had looked for me, but in the end president Maurizio Zamparini and I opted for the PSG project: they told me that they wanted to win in France and in Europe, and to do so they would have signed the best players in the world, and that’s what happened. Over the years, there were contacts to return to Italy and Milan were interested, but my choice was always to stay in Paris.”

Pastore presently plies his trade in Qatar with Qatar SC. He left Europe in the summer, with his final stint coming with Elche in La Liga, before which he had mutually terminated his contract with Roma.
