Inter steamrolled to their 20th Serie A title in 2023/24, beating runners-up Milan to the crown by a substantial margin. However, Fabio Capello doesn’t think Simone Inzaghi’s men will be able to keep hold of the Scudetto next term.
“Next season, we’re going to have a wonderful campaign,” Capello told Radio Kiss Kiss, as quoted by the MilanPress. “I don’t think Inter will repeat themselves, but I do see Milan and Juventus being super protagonists at the top.”
After finishing a whopping 19 points behind Inter in the Serie A standings, Milan parted ways with the Scudetto-winning manager Stefano Pioli. Ex-Lille boss Paulo Fonseca will soon take over the reins. However, Milan’s title hopes should largely depend on their transfer dealings in the coming months.
On the other hand, Juventus refused to continue with Massimiliano Allegri after missing out on the Serie A title for the fourth season on the trot. Allegri’s heir, Thiago Motta, arrives at the Allianz Stadium following an outstanding league campaign with Bologna, determined to turn the Bianconeri’s fortunes around.
Though Capello initially failed to mention Napoli as potential candidates to dethrone Inter, Antonio Conte’s arrival ought to turn the Partenopei into Serie A title contenders again. In addition to Conte’s appointment, the southern giants will undergo substantial personnel changes after a miserable 2023/24 campaign.
“With regards to Napoli, Conte has international experience and, therefore, he is the right coach at the right time. He already proved that he is a winner and is also the favorite because he only has Serie A to focus on,” Capello added.
