Fagioli Extends Contract, Juventus Weigh Other Starlets

Juventus needed to make a decision on Nicolò Fagioli before the end of the summer, and indeed they did, as they announced Wednesday to have prolonged his contract until 2026. He will be part of the roster for the 2022/2023 season.

His agent Andrea D’Amico commented to Radio Bianconera (via SportMediaset).

“Last year was important for him. He grew, plus the trip to the United States confirmed his abilities. Showing well at Cremonese in one thing, you need to have personality to do the same at Juventus, on top of physical and technical skills. The renewal was critical.”

“He wants to fit into the group and learn from their great players, then we’ll see at the end of the season. The new contract is a signal of mutual trust. A glorious club like Juventus showed confidence in Fagioli, one of their sons.”

“He has to take advantage of this opportunity and carve out a role for himself. He’s proud to have been raised here and to have reached the first team. We and the club never intended to test the waters on the transfer market. The plan was always to keep him and assess him in the friendlies.”

With the 21-year-old having locked down his spot, the Bianconeri will have to sort the immediate future of two further youngsters in the same role, Fabio Miretti and Nicolò Rovella. As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, Massimiliano Allegri is a big fan of the former, whom he made debut last season, and he will most likely stay. Instead, the Genoa youth product could go out on loan later in the window after some returns from injury. Monza, Salernitana and Cremonese are tracking him.
