Felipe Caicedo Reunites with Former Coach Inzaghi at Inter

Shortly after obtaining Robin Gosens from Atalanta, Inter have continued to be relentless within the transfer window as they secured the signing of veteran striker Felipe Caicedo from Genoa on a loan deal until the end of this year’s campaign.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Ecuadorian striker has agreed to sign a six-month loan deal until June with the Nerazzurri where he will be paid a total of 800,000. After recently signing with Il Grifone during the summer transfer window, the 33 year-old striker has accepted to take a wage-cut to complete the reunion with his former coach Inzaghi at the Stadio San Siro.

Throughout Caicedo and Inzaghi’s four years together at Lazio, the Ecuadorian marksman has scored 28 goals in 105 appearances for the Biancocelesti. The veteran striker has played a vital role in helping Inzaghi claim two Italian Super Cups and one Coppa Italia.

So far this season, Caicedo has only scored one goal in seven games played for the Grifone. Despite his underwhelming form, Marotta believes that the acquisition of Caicedo is vital in order to ensure that the league-leaders have all the reinforcements necessary with a difficult second half of the season underway.

As it stands, Joaquin Correa is currently held at bay after suffering an injury against Empoli in the opening ten minutes of the Coppa Italia Round of 16. In addition, the Nerazzurri have allowed Martin Satriano to depart on loan until the end of the season.

With very minimal resources available within the front-line, the club views Caicedo as the perfect addition in order to overcome the most difficult part of the campaign through the use of his clinical goal-scoring abilities, his tactical awareness, and his aerial dominance.
