Italy is now a strong contender to host UEFA Euro 2032. The Italian Football Federation, FIGC, has officially submitted the dossier for its candidacy for the 2032 edition of the renowned continental tournament.
Eleven footballing cities across the Peninsula have been taken into consideration for the event – Milan, Turin, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples, Bari, and Cagliari. Palermo will serve as a backup. The officials opted to include just one island for environmental reasons and picked Sardinia over Sicily.
The FIGC had originally planned a bid to host the 2028 edition or the 2030 FIFA World Cup, but 2032 was chosen instead since it would give a broader timeline to develop and reinforce the existing infrastructures in the country.

If the reigning European champions end up hosting the tournament, it will be only for the third time in history after 1968 and 1980 – which were won by the Azzurri and West Germany respectively. The last major football competition on their turf was the 1990 World Cup.
Italy will face strong push from Turkey, whose bid represents their sixth consecutive attempt to host the tournament. They will also compete with the United Kingdom and Ireland for the 2028 edition.
