Fiorentina Amp Up Efforts to Sign Croatia Prospect Sutalo

Just hours after links emerged with River Plate sensation Lucas Beltran, Fiorentina are inching closer to signing Croatia center-back Josip Sutalo after submitting an official opening bid. However, their approach has been duplicated by Ajax, meaning the Viola’s proposition is bound to be rejected, given their low offer.

As per latest reports emerging from Italy and the Netherlands, Sutalo is now amidst a bidding war between Fiorentina and Ajax. The Firenze outfit have reportedly submitted €12M as their initial bid, despite Dinamo Zagreb demanding nothing less than €20M for the 23-year-old.

Sutalo is ready to leave the Croatian capital, however, the destination remains unknown, with Ajax also in the race. The exact amount offered by the Dutch giants is still in the blue, but according to Voetbal International, Sutalo is concretely shortlisted as the ideal successor to now-Arsenal defender Jurriën Timber.

Sutalo is contracted for five more years with his boyhood club and is currently starring in the club’s Champions League preliminary round qualifiers.

He has regularly appeared for the club since the 2021/22 season, racking up a total of 84 caps for the Croatian giants. Lazio and Napoli have already been linked to Sutalo, but it is Fiorentina which have taken concrete steps to establish a deal.
