Fiorentina have officialized that Dusan Vlahovic will not ink a new deal. However, he is under contract until 2023, and the Viola hope the situation will not affect his performances this season. President Rocco Commisso recently voiced his frustration for the agents constantly upping their demands during the negotiation.

Despite the off-the-pitch drama, Vlahovic has gotten off to a fast start. With the help of three penalty kicks, he has posted four goals and one assist in the first seven appearances. Coach Vincenzo Italiano stated in the most recent pre-game presser that the player is practicing hard and showing professionalism.

Vlahovic did not push to leave in the summer despite the bids coming from Atletico Madrid and Tottenham. Fiorentina will most likely sell him in 2022 to avoid losing him for nothing in two years. They went through the same shebang with Federico Chiesa. The winger turned down multiple offers and forced his way to Juventus. The Bianconeri are after the Serbian striker, although their finances are tighter now, Tuttosport reports.

Commisso issued a statement on the matter: “When I arrived in Florence, I promised the fans I would be up front with them and that I would never make promises that I could not keep. Fiorentina made a very significant offer to Vlahovic. Our proposal would have made him the highest-paid player in the history of the club. We also improved it on a number of occasions to accommodate the requests of both Dusan and his entourage. However, despite our offers, they have not been accepted.”

“At this point, all that we can do is acknowledge their wishes and quickly identify feasible, appropriate solutions as we proceed with this exciting new season. In any case, his contract links him to Fiorentina for the next 21 months.”
