Fiorentina Close In on Beltran Signing

It seems Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano doesn’t believe his current attacking options are enough for a European fight next term. According to Gianluca Di MarzioLa Viola have opened a dialogue with River Plate over highly-rated forward Lucas Beltran.

Arthur Cabral and Luka Jovic have failed to impress Italiano. Although the former had several glittering moments in last season’s run to the Europa Conference League final, his form oscillations required a more consistent option. As for the latter, Fiorentina may have regretted his arrival already.

Beltran has been nothing short of outstanding for River Plate in 2023, racking up an eye-catching 16 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions in Argentina this calendar year. Fiorentina are ready to fork out around €25 million to get the deal over the line.

Talks between the parties are underway, with La Viola hoping to close things out in the coming hours. But even if they do, Fiorentina will need to wait an additional few days for Beltran to fly across the ocean. The 22-year-old striker will feature for River Plate in the Copa Libertadores Round of 16 second leg against Internacional on Wednesday night.

Fiorentina have been busy this summer. Fabiano Parisi, Yerry Mina, and Arthur Melo have joined forces with Italiano’s roster. However, their bid to offload injury-prone Gaeteno Castrovilli collapsed at the 11th hour. The 26-year-old failed his medical at Bournemouth yesterday
