Fiorentina Closing In on Acquisition of Lille Attacker

Fiorentina have solid chances to formalize their first winter purchase before the start of the January window. The Viola are in very advance talks with Lille to purchase Jonathan Ikoné. The parties are constantly in touch to put pen-to-paper soon, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

RB Leipzig are attempting to hijack the move, but they might have arrived too late. According to the transfer market expert, Fiorentina will pay €15M for the forward. The Frenchman has only a year and a half left on his contract with Lille.

Fiorentina had laid their eyes on Domenico Berardi, who would be very open to joining. However, Sassuolo stonewalled their attempt by setting a sky-high price tag. The Neroverdi have never sold one of their top players in January. While Ikoné is not necessarily a fallback plan given his talent, the Viola will not sign them both.

The 23-year-old has been at Lille since 2018 after being brought up in PSG youth academy. He has accumulated 151 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring 13 goals and providing 23 assists. Coach Vincenzo Italiano wanted a left-footed right winger to complete his trident. José Callejon recently bagged his first goal, but his performances have been mostly subpar. Plus, Lille are not having a great season following their title run.

Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso recently met with Dusan Vlahovic’s agent. However, the scenario is unlikely to change, Alfredo Pedullà reports. The striker will not sign the extension and will leave before the end of his current contract. The transfer will probably happen next summer rather than in January.
