Fiorentina Continue to Look Around for New Goalkeeper

Fiorentina are searching for a new goalkeeper, but the leads they have pursued so far present some difficulties. The latest name to pop up on their radar was Torino’s Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. However, the deal is seen as challenging for unrelated reasons.

As per Sky, Torino did not like how the Viola hijacked their attempt to purchase Rolando Mandragora from Juventus. The Granata did not pick up their option to buy him and then proceeded to open talks to acquire him permanently at a lower rate. The Gigliati interjected the negotiation and have reportedly tabled a better offer.

In response, the Turin-based club rejected the Fiorentina request to bring in the Serbian goalkeeper on an initial loan, asking the counterparty to sign him outright for a robust fee. The parties tensed up, and the Viola are tracking different options. They have rekindled their interest in Pierluigi Gollini. Although, they are not on the same page with Atalanta on the terms. Guglielmo Vicario remains an option, but he is rather expensive, TuttoSport informs.

The brass reportedly wishes to bring in a shot-stopper that would not necessarily supplant Pietro Terracciano right away. Instead, they want to create a strong pair that would alternate next season.

Our Take on Fiorentina Seeking a New Goalkeeper

The veteran showed well last season, but not that impressively to prevent them from signing a young stud. Vicario was one of the best shot-stoppers in Serie A last season, and he is well worth an investment. Milinkovic-Savic entices gaffers for the ability with his feet, but he is still very raw between the sticks. Purchasing him would be a big gamble. Gollini would somewhat fall between the two, as he is a proven commodity but does not have a high ceiling.
