Fiorentina Dismiss Vlahovic Overture, Start Seeking Heir

Dusan Vlahovic seemed to offer an opening to signing a new deal with Fiorentina in his most recent remarks, but the club is not buying it. The Viola management are well aware that he will not extend his contract and will depart next summer, Sky Sport reports.

On the contrary, director Joe Barone again slammed his agent Darko Ristic during the unveiling of Jonathan Ikoné: “We did not authorize the interview. There have not been any new developments compared to what his representative told us last summer. He totally disrespected us. We had come to terms on the wages, but he halted the talks because he wanted higher commissions.”

“The president met him in November, and his requests had doubled at that point. I had a summit with Ristic as well, and there were no steps forwards. He even suggested staying here until the end of his contract and leaving for free. I think that Vlahovic should not mislead Fiorentina fans. We are here to tell the truth, and the situation has become very complex.”

Despite the offers, especially from Arsenal, the Serbian star will stay in January. And he aims to join a true top club next summer, the publication adds. Fiorentina have already started searching for his replacement. They are in the heated race to acquire Julian Alvarez from River Plate, but he might be too expensive. The same goes for the highly coveted Gianluca Scamacca. They have also inquired about Penarol’s Augustin Alvarez and Genk’s Paul Onuachu.
