Fiorentina Exec Addresses Italiano Future and Recent Results

Fiorentina director Joe Barone addressed his team’s strong form: “Winning a Tuscan derby is always gratifying. We have to take it game after game. We will face Napoli next, and we are looking for consistency. The race to qualify for European is heating up in Serie A, and we fully belong to it. Prevailing will require focus and hard work.”

The executive talked to Tuttomercatoweb during an event to commemorate Artemio Franchi. He commented on Vincenzo Italiano switching agent: “We have an excellent relationship with the coach. There is an option in our favor in his deal. We will discuss it at the end of the season, as usual. He is on excellent terms with owner Rocco Commisso too.”

Barone dished on two of the top Fiorentina contributors, Nicolas Gonzalez and Gaetano Castrovilli, who are starting to hit their strides: “Everybody can score in our squad; even Cristiano Biraghi has notched a few goals. I am having dinners with multiple players, and the press catches us at times. The midfielder has a contract with us, and we plan to respect it. We will examine whether to renew it in the summer.”

The Viola brass is facing criticism for tweaking the logo: “We are thinking about the present and the future of the team. Everybody can have his opinion, but this is not the right time to protest because the side needs support. I can just say that we are lucky to have Commisso because he is investing a lot in Fiorentina.”
