Fiorentina Target Unwanted Real Madrid Marksman Jovic

Despite Fiorentina possessing three center-forwards in their ranks, Arthur Cabral, Krzysztof Piatek and Aleksandr Kokorin, they are one of the contenders for Luka Jovic. They have struggled to replace Dusan Vlahovic since his departure to Juventus in the winter transfer window.

La Viola scored 59 goals in 38 matches in the 2021/22 Serie A season – the joint-third lowest of any team in the top ten – and seek to better their frontline exploits going forward in order to end higher than 7th position.

As per the latest reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fiorentina are aiming for Real Madrid outcast Jovic, who is not in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans for next season. The Serbian marksman is eager to leave the European champions keeping in mind a starting place in Serbia’s 2022 FIFA World Cup-bound team. He recently also followed the Gigliati on Instagram.

Having already eyed him last summer, their officials are said to have initiated first contacts with the Spanish heavyweights to assess his availability. However, they will first have to navigate a complicated economic situation where Madrid demand nothing short of his €20M – one-third of what the Spaniards paid for him – and his whopping €6M net per season wages.

The Tuscans could eventually turn towards an initial loan deal with an option or obligation to buy permanently at the end of next season. On top of Jovic, Fiorentina also have Milan Djuric, Andrea Pinamonti, and Andrea Belotti in their crosshairs.
