Fiorentina Find Pol Lirola’s Backup in Real Madrid Fullback

Real Madrid full-back Alvaro Odriozola looks likely to make a move to Florence after Fiorentina made their intention clear of boosting the right flank. Los Blancos are keen to make space in the squad for Kylian Mbappe as they anticipate Paris Saint-Germain to accept their €180m offer any moment now.

Odriozola will leave Madrid in a one-year loan deal that will see him return to the Spanish capital at the end of 2021/22 season since no option to buy him is included. He is under contract at Madrid until 2024.

The defender spent the latter half of 2019/20 on loan at Bayern Munich, where he picked up the Champions League winners medal although he lacked game time. However, it is supposed to be a whole different story with La Viola as he can expect more playing time.

Multiple reports from both Italy and Spain have confirmed that the Basque right-back has already accepted the deal and he will fly out to Florence in the next few hours.

Pol Lirola’s departure to Marseille has opened up the fullback position and Fiorentina have pounced upon the opportunity to sign Odriozola.

Milan and Inter were also said to be interested in his services.
