Fiorentina Halt Negotiation for Roma-Linked Attacker

Roma are advancing quickly in their bid to sign Angelino, but they will have to find other wingers to strengthen their attack because Fiorentina have taken Jonathan Ikoné off the market. The Giallorossi reportedly proposed a swap deal with Andrea Belotti.

Viola’s director Joe Barone spoke through the club’s official channels (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“Ikoné will stay with us, he’s not available and won’t join Roma. He took the responsibility of kicking the PK, showed courage, and missed it. Unfortunately, these things have consequences. However, we have a great group that loves him.”

Fiorentina are set to part ways with Josip Brekalo, who’s headed to Dinamo Zagreb, Alfredo Pedullà informs. They’ll replace him with one or two new attackers. Barone mused on that.

“There’ll be some additions in the next few days, but we won’t be pushed around by any side. The price tags set by other clubs often aren’t real. We shouldn’t forget that many injured players like Riccardo Sottil, Nicolas Gonzalez, Dodo, and Gaetano Castrovilli will return, and Christian Kouamé will be back from AFCON.”

Our Take on Roma and Ikoné

Perhaps he might bounce back freed of the baggage of his price tag and lackluster performances, but he wasn’t a tasty option to begin with. The swap wouldn’t have been gratis and would have led to other issues. As is the case with Angelino, the Giallorossi will probably add somebody out of the blue on loan from a foreign outfit.
