Fiorentina Intensifying Talks With Empoli for Prodigious Talent

Negotiations between Fiorentina and Empoli over Fabiano Parisi’s switch to Artemio Franchi are gathering momentum. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Vincenzo Italiano’s men have submitted a €12 million offer to anticipate any potential move from Milan

La Viola’s interest in the 22-year-old left-back first surfaced in the final days of the last summer transfer window. But they couldn’t strike a swift agreement with their fellow Tuscan rivals due to a tight timeframe. With the entire summer ahead this time around, Fiorentina could succeed where they failed a year ago.

Empoli’s asking price remains the same. Gli Azzurri asked for €15m last summer. And they won’t let Parisi leave for less now, especially after the defender’s eye-catching exploits in 2022/23. Indeed, the youngster excelled in the previous Serie A campaign, growing into one of the league’s best-performing left-backs.

Parisi made 33 top-flight appearances for Paolo Zanetti’s side last season, tallying two goals and two assists. His proclivities for pushing forward on any given occasion have caught Vincenzo Italiano’s attention. The Fiorentina boss wants a younger alternative for senior star Cristiano Biraghi.

As the club’s loyal servant and long-serving captain, the 30-year-old is an indispensable starter at Franchi. Therefore, Parisi could be skeptical about joining Fiorentina, fearing for his first-team opportunities. However, his long-term prospects should be safe and sound, with Aleksa Terzic nearing a club exit.

Terzic’s deal with Fiorentina runs out next summer. Since there’s been no major development in extension talks, he could hit the road in the coming weeks. The Serb’s departure would free up a slot for Parisi, with La Viola edging closer to an agreement with Empoli.
