Fiorentina Man Hopeful of Securing Permanent Premier League Move

Fiorentina loanee Sofyan Amrabat admits he hasn’t lost hope of securing a permanent switch to Manchester United towards the end of his loan spell. One of the heroes of the Red Devils’ FA Cup victory against Manchester City sees his future at Old Trafford.

For me, staying at Manchester United is certainly an option,” the Fiorentina midfielder told Ziggo Sport, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano. “We are going to talk. Manchester United are the biggest club in the world. Who wouldn’t want to play football here?

Amrabat joined United on a season-long loan on the deadline day last summer after the Red Devils agreed to pay Fiorentina £8.5 million for a short-term deal. It’s now up to them to decide whether they want to activate a £21.4m release clause.

The 27-year-old seemed destined to return to Fiorentina until not long ago. He was a shadow of a player who amazed the planet at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. But amidst a severe injury crisis at the Theatre of Dreams, a forgotten man has emerged as a hero.

Steady but surely, Amrabat has found his feet at Manchester United towards the end of his loan spell. His crowning performance came in Saturday’s FA Cup final as he played a crucial role in the Red Devils’ stunning 2-1 triumph against arch-rivals Manchester City.

Whether Amrabat will return to Fiorentina remains to be seen. It’ll depend to some extent on Erik ten Hag’s future at United. Despite conquering football’s oldest cup competition, the Dutchman could soon be relieved of his duties. It could affect the Moroccan’s prospects in England.
