Fiorentina Pause Extension Talks with Star Forward as Pressure Mounts

Fiorentina and Dusan Vlahovic are back to square one in the negotiation for a new contract. The parties appeared close to an agreement two weeks ago. However, his agents upped their demands, and the increasing interest from rich clubs likely turned the tables, Sky Sport informs.

The talks are on hold at the moment. The Viola proposed a €3.5M salary plus €500k add-ons. They had an understanding on an €80M release clause. His entourage asked for a €2M signing bonus, and the brass was inclined to give it to them.

On the other hand, Fiorentina bristled at his representatives requesting an exclusive mandate to sell him in 2022, on top of a sizeable percentage of the profit. President Rocco Commisso will take matters into his own hands. He should arrive in Italy by the end of the week. It will be directly up to him to decide the future of the Serbian striker, who has two years left on his current contract.

Vlahovic is highly sought after, although Fiorentina have put up a strong resistance up to this point. Atletico Madrid offered €50M and €10M add-ons, but they too were dubious on paying his agents a €8M commission. The Colchoneros are readying a raise but are also tracking Matheus Cunha.

Tottenham have long considered the starlet as a strong replacement for Harry Kane, should they finally cave and sell their star to Manchester City, Alfredo Pedullà reports. Director Fabio Paratici successfully arranged the transfer of Federico Chiesa to Juventus last summer.
