Fiorentina Poised to Purchase Brazilian Right-Back

After a long chase, Fiorentina have managed to sanction a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for Dodo. The fullback will indeed join in the next few days. He will replace Alvaro Odriozola in the role, who headed back to Real Madrid following a solid loan spell.

Viola directors Joe Barone and Daniele Pradè had a key meeting with the player’s entourage Thursday. They reached agreement for a €14M fee plus €3.5M add-ons, Ansa reports. The 23-year-old will ink a five-year contract and earn €1.5M per season, with bonuses. Despite his young age, he has already accumulated 17 appearances in Champions League and 9 in Europa League. He was signed by the Ukrainian club from Coritiba in 2018 and spent a season on loan to Vitoria Guimaraes. He went on to cap 97 times, tallying 5 goals and 17 assists, with the Miners.

While the sequence of the official announcements remains to be determined, Dodo will be the fourth addition by Fiorentina in the summer window. Rolando Mandragora already formalized his move. Luka Jovic and Pierluigi Gollini will be next in line. Afterward, the Gigliati will shift their focus to finding a dynamic box-to-box midfielder to replace the injured Gaetano Castrovilli.

Our Take on Fiorentina Acquiring Dodo

Vincenzo Italiano likes to pack a punch on the defensive flanks, and the tandem with Cristiano Biraghi is strong on paper. The newcomer will probably have to improve in the back to properly fit into the league, but it helps that he will have the whole pre-season to do it.
