Fiorentina President Slams Rival Serie A Powerhouses

As he has done multiple times in the past, Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso didn’t mince words when given the opportunity to comment on the finances of the top teams in Italy. The tycoon participated in a Sportitalia program (via DAZN).

“Juventus have lost €550M in the last few years, Milan €500M and Inter €445M. Instead, we generated €16M profits. The Bianconeri were worth €2B when they signed Cristiano Ronaldo, then they had two capital increases and their valuation is €800M now. We have invested all the money we got from sales. We are still owed a lot of cash for the Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic deals. In the meantime, I personally financed our acquisitions.”

Commisso commented on how the Fiorentina season has gone so far.

“We started well, but we have three fewer points than last year. We have been heavily criticized, but I can’t accept that to be constant. I want to thank the fans that support us. Everybody would like to be higher in the standings, but our coach is doing a great job. Though, I don’t like all these passes to the goalie. They led to blunders against Bologna, Basaksehir and Udinese. We had just 40 percent possession against Verona and we won. We have to play more vertically.”

The chairman re-examined the departure of Vlahovic.

“I was negotiating with him and the agent, and I traveled to Italy to meet them even though I was sick. The request ballooned from €5M to €8M per year in a flash. We had trusted him when he said he would stay in the pre-season. He wasn’t honest and betrayed us, but it didn’t ruin us.”
