Fiorentina Set Sights on Another Juventus Misfit

In addition to considering a summer swoop for Weston McKennie, Fiorentina could help Juventus offload another out-of-sorts star in the coming weeks. According to Calciomercato, Raffaele Palladino’s charges have placed a watchful eye on experienced defender Daniele Rugani amid speculation the Bianconeri are on the verge of signing Jean-Clair Todibo.

Todibo’s arrival from OGC Nice would close down space for Rugani, who has never reached the promised heights at Juventus. The 29-year-old’s contract at the Allianz Stadium runs out in 2025. With Todibo edging closer to a move to Turin, Rugani’s time with the record-time Serie A champions could be up.

Fiorentina snatched Moise Kean away from Juventus earlier in July, paying the Turin club almost €18 million to sign the Italian striker. They’re willing to do the same with McKennie, albeit they require Juve’s help to land the USMNT midfielder. La Viola won’t go beyond the €10m mark to bring the 25-year-old to Tuscany.

They’d also help Juventus get rid of Rugani’s wages, but only if they can close the deal on favorable terms. The former Empoli man has notoriously struggled for first-team opportunities in recent years, and with Todibo set to join Thiago Motta’s side, his best chance of securing regular game time would be to change the club.

Juventus and Fiorentina boast a strong relationship. Federico Bernardeschi, Federico Chiesa, and Dusan Vlahovic have swapped Artemio Franchi to the Allianz Stadium in the past six years, with Arthur Melo and now Kean moving in the opposite direction.
