Fiorentina Set to Bag Signature of Verona Talisman

According to Corriere dello Sport, Fiorentina are inches away from confirming the signing of Hellas Verona midfield ace Antonin Barak. The Czech international was left out by coach Gabriele Cioffi for Verona’s 1-1 draw against Bologna, further reinforcing links with the Viola.

Information relayed by the Italian outlet indicates that talks are at an advanced stage between the two parties, and a decision will soon come into place in the coming hours. An agreement is touted to be struck for a €2M loan deal with an option to buy set at €10-12M next summer. The proposed salary is €1.5M net per season, valid until the summer of 2026.

He was signed permanently by Verona last year following a decent 2020/21 on loan from Udinese. It turned out to be a superb season for the Czech, as he notched 11 goals from 30 appearances for the Gialloblù.

The midfielder was linked to a host of top draw clubs earlier on, including Milan and several Premier League outfits, but all speculation mellowed as the transfer market proceeded to throw in some other big names. Fiorentina are likely to wait until after the second leg of the European Conference League’s playoffs against Twente before putting pen to paper with the Scaligeri.
