Fiorentina Show Interest in Three Italian Goalkeepers

Fiorentina have been held back by the blunders of their goalkeepers in recent fixtures. Their management will attempt to bring in a new starter in the summer. Bartlomiej Dragowski had a key error in the return leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals versus Juventus. Instead, Pietro Terracciano turned the ball over, leading to Rafael Leao’s goal, in Sunday’s match versus Milan.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Viola are eyeing three Italian options. Guglielmo Vicario, who is shining at Empoli, is their top target. The Azzurri have a €10M option to buy him out from Cagliari. They will activate it only if they are sure to re-sell him at a slightly higher sum.

Fiorentina have also inserted Alessio Cragno and Marco Carnesecchi in their shortlist of goalkeepers. The former would most likely leave if Cagliari got relegated. Such event could impact Vicario’s price tag as well. Instead, the latter, whose card belongs to Atalanta, is attracting suitors thanks to his strong showings while on loan to Cremonese. Both figure to be more expensive than the current Empoli shot-stopper. Dragowski will be on his way out in the next window, while Terracciano could stay in a backup role. The Viola are also keeping tabs on some foreign alternatives, the site adds.

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano addressed his goalkeepers following the Milan clash: “Terracciano has been a major revelation this season. It is not an issue, and they always responded well. I made the switch four matches ago, and it led to an uproar. Enough already, let’s move on.”
