Niclas Fullkrug is a hot name on the transfer market, with Fiorentina expressing interest in his services recently. However, the Germany international has neither ruled out staying at Werder Bremen for another season nor strengthened his exit links at the club. He admitted not knowing whether he would sign a contract extension at Bremen.
Part of his side’s 3-1 victory over VfB Oldenburg in a pre-season friendly, Fullkrug took some time after to speak to Deichstube (via Tuttomercatoweb) and shed light on his future.
“There were days when we were closer (to renewal) and then days when we were further apart. There is a lot of speculation these days. It’s all a process, I don’t know where it will lead to in the end. I still have a contract here, so I don’t need a specific deadline. I’m calm, Werder is a club that means a lot to me and it’s a good option.”
Fullkrug is contracted to the North German club until the summer of 2025 but admitted his future is up in the air ahead of the new season.
