Fiorentina Trying to Acquire Highly-Rated Uruguayan Striker

Fiorentina have signed two strikers in January, but they are also going after Augustin Alvarez for next season. They are looking to come to terms with Penarol to sanction the deal on deadline day already. The Viola added Krzysztof Piatek at the beginning of the window and Arthur Cabral shortly after selling Dusan Vlahovic to Juventus.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the percentage of a potential sale down the line is the main hurdle of the talks at the moment. The Gigliati have offered €13M plus €3M add-ons. They came close to his €17M release clause. The Uruguayan outfit wants 30 percent of a future transfer fee, while the Viola proposed 10.

Alvarez has already okayed his move to Fiorentina. Director Nicolas Burdisso primarily operated to convince him to join. He has fully blossomed in 2021, tallying 23 goals and 6 assists in 40 appearances. He has four caps with Uruguay.

Penarol president Jorge Nirenberg confirmed the negotiation with Fiorentina for Alvarez to Canal 10: “We want a significant percentage of a future sale, which could be worth a lot of money. We are very clear on that aspect. The rest is being discussed, and we are going back-and-forth.”

Fiorentina might also finalize a departure on deadline day. Sofyan Amrabat is now likely to stay as his move to Tottenham collapsed since the Spurs purchased Rodrigo Bentancur. Erick Pulgar is the odd man out in the midfield, and he is on his way to Galatasary on a six-month loan spell, Alfredo Pedullà reports.
