Fiorentina Wingback Closes in on Marseille Return

Olympique de Marseille are closing in on a deal to get Fiorentina right back Pol Lirola back to the club after loaning him for the second half of the previous season. The Spanish full back was loaned out to the French club in January as he appeared 17 times, putting in impressive performances for the club.

According to French media outlet La Provence, negotiations between Marseille and Fiorentina are said to have taken place earlier this week for a permanent transfer of the 24-year-old. He was loaned out last season with an option to buy for €12m and Marseille are looking to activate that clause.

He has a current transfer market value of €9m, according to transfermarkt.

The former Sassuolo man has long been on Marseille’s transfer wish list and club president Pablo Longoria, who is also Spanish, is said to be a fan of the former Spain U21 defender.
