Fiorentina Zeroing in on Maurizio Sarri Ahead of Next Season

While all interested parties denied meeting recently, Maurizio Sarri is the top target for the future of the Fiorentina bench, Gazzetta dello Sport reports, but their chase will not be easy. The Viola reached out to him when they fired Giuseppe Iachini in November, but the former Napoli and Chelsea manager does not want to take over a team mid-season, transfer market expert Alfredo Pedullà informed. He told the same thing to Napoli and Olympique Marseille in recent weeks.

Sarri is still under contract with Juventus and is making €7M per year. While the attempts to rescind the deal early were unsuccessful, it will terminate in June with the Bianconeri paying a €2.5M clause because the third-year option was not picked up.

The gaffer and his family live in Figline Valdarno, few kilometers away from where the club is building the Viola Park, their brand-new training center. Gazzetta added that the front office came away from the Autumn talks with the feeling that Sarri would be open to the destination under the right circumstances.

First of all, he would embark a three-year project after his previous stays were cut short, plus he believes that owner Rocco Commisso has enough economic firepower to be properly ambitious. However, Sarri is expected to have few suitors, both in Italy and abroad, and therefore Fiorentina will have to wait until late April to know whether they have a real shot at getting him, or if he will instead take a more prestigious job elsewhere. Roma has also been mentioned as a possibility.
