Fiorentina’s Castrovilli Suffers Season-Ending Injury

Bad news for Fiorentina: Gaetano Castrovilli will be out for a long time. In the last Serie A match against Venezia, the Viola‘s number ten suffered a fracture to his external meniscus, the cruciate ligament and the collateral ligament.

Castrovilli, who was having a great season with the Viola, was dreaming of national team call-up.

Below is the statement released by the purple club: “ACF Fiorentina announces that the footballer Gaetano Castrovilli was subjected to instrumental tests this morning following the injury reported during the Fiorentina-Venezia league match last Saturday. Diagnostic tests performed showed the lesion of the anterior cruciate ligament, of the medial collateral ligament and of the external meniscus of the left knee. These lesions require reconstructive surgery which will be carried out over the next few days“.

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano also commented on the matter: “Unfortunately, this is a serious injury, we will lose one of our most fit athletes. I talked to him, it happens even to the best. With calm and patience he will be able to return to what he was before. We are waiting for him“.

Italiano preached calm and serenity as he tried to instill positivity to the Italian international. This was an unexpected injury that suddenly put a halt to the growth path that was leading El Castro towards constant improvement. In Florence, everyone will wait for him patiently, confident that this little hitch will not affect the number 10 too much, and that that he will soon be back on the pitch to delight his fans.
