Fiorentina’s Search for a Striker Leads them to Bundesliga

Following the acquisition of Azzurri prodigy Fabiano Parisi from Empoli, Fiorentina continue to make waves in the transfer market, with Germany international Niclas Fullkrug reportedly the next in line to arrive at the Artemio Franchi.

As relayed by Italian journalist Nicolas Schira (via ViolaNews), Werder Bremen striker and Bundesliga top scorer last season Fullkrug is the latest idea for the Viola frontline. Initial contacts have already taken place between the player’s intermediaries and club officials in a bid to strike a deal. However, as it is understood, no contacts have taken place between Fiorentina and Bremen.

Vincenzo Italiano was evidently left disheartened after Fiorentina’s inability to score goals during crucial moments last season, as the Tuscan giants fell to back-to-back 2-1 cup final defeats at the hands of Inter and West Ham United respectively. The arrival of Fullkrug could prove to be decisive, as the Viola prepare to star in the Conference League once again next season, following Juventus’ one-season suspension by UEFA.

Atalanta are also keeping close tabs on Fullkrug.

Fiorentina currently have three center-forwards – Christian Kouame, Luka Jovic, and Arthur Cabral – none of whom have been able to etch their mark in stone. The next weeks will be decisive in the race for Fullkrug, who ended last season as the German top-tier’s joint top scorer.
