Five Free Agents That Inter Could Sign This Summer

Antonio Conte in his first season at Inter guided the club to a commendable 2nd-place finish, missing out on the title by just a point to Juventus.

The Nerazzurri could’ve won the Serie A title on goal difference given some more time. They won their remaining three fixtures convincingly as Juve slipped up, but Maurizio Sarri managed to do enough throughout the season to finish as champion.

Now as teams prepare for the 2020-21 Serie A campaign, they’ll be looking into the market for some bargains. Inter may well look towards England again this summer, and here we look at five free agents whom Conte could bring to Inter:

Edinson Cavani

Inter were favorites to land the striker at one point, but have seemingly pulled out of the race. The Uruguayan is available for free after his PSG release but in France, he was earning upwards of half-a-million euros per-week.

It’s unlikely any club will look to offer that much, but Inter could afford it, and if other clubs seemingly pull out of the Cavani deal then they could quite easily get a year or so out of him.

Ryan Fraser

The ex-Bournemouth man has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool throughout the season. He left Bournemouth before the restart after failing to agree to a new deal and is still without a club now.

Nobody seems to jumping at the chance to sign Fraser just yet, but Inter could emerge as surprise candidates to land the Scottish winger – he’s dynamic, pacey and can fill in at full-back too – he could be the perfect fit for Conte’s Inter.

Malang Sarr

Since the 21-ear-old left Nice before the restart, several clubs from across Europe have been after him. Arsenal were emerging as the favorites but then it was reported that Sarr was eyeing another move to a French club, or a German club.

But with talks stalling it could give Inter the chance to swoop in. A center-back, Sarr featured 19 times in Ligue 1 last season and has proved himself a forceful, pacey and dynamic defender – he could learn a lot alongside the likes of Diego Godin and Stefan de Vrij.

Mario Gotze

The German has been labeled a disappointment towards the second half of his career. From World Cup winner to Dortmund exile, Gotze looks as though he’s heading for a new opportunity.

Inter could be the perfect place for Gotze to revive his dwindling career – they play a kind of football that would suit an attacking, creative midfielder like Gotze, and he’d make for a strong addition to a midfield that has a lot of options, but failed to have a real stand-out spark in the middle.

Jeff Hendrick

The Irishman missed out on a move to Milan since his Burnley exit, but that doesn’t mean a move to Italy is completely off the cards for Hendrick.

Inter could yet move for the ex-Burnley man – he’s another dynamic player who could likely fill in all across the middle, even at wing-back for Conte.

A player coming from the Premier League as well, he’d fit right in at Inter with the fellow ex-Premier League names, and could yet be a useful signing from Conte.
