Five Serie A Youngsters Who Must Not Leave Their Clubs Next Summer

After listing five Serie A players who must move for bigger clubs next season in yesterday’s edition, today we will be conversely naming five players who should remain with their current clubs at least for another campaign. These youngsters are all very promising, but perhaps still unready for prime-time.

Mikkel Damsgaard (Sampdoria)

The young Dane immediately found his way into Claudio Ranieri’s starting lineup after moving to Sampdoria last summer.

Originally a left winger, the youngster has been tested throughout various roles, and his performance against Inter remains his highlight reel of the season.

Damsgaard has been linked with a host of European clubs, including the Nerazzurri as well as Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur, but at the tender age of 20, he still has time to develop his arsenal before joining a bigger club.

Matteo Pessina (Atalanta)

The Italian international is having his breakout season at Atalanta, becoming the unlikely replacement for former captain Alejandro Gomez who departed in January.

The 23-year-old is tipped to rejoin Milan, but the wisest choice would be to remain with La Dea for another season, because not every young Serie A player gets the opportunity to enhance his skills under the tutelage of Gian Piero Gasperini.

Nicolo Rovella (Genoa)

When it comes to the young Italian, his future is no longer a mystery, as Juventus opted to buy his contract last January, but kept him on loan with Genoa until the summer of 2022.

Recently, it has been reported that the Bianconeri are contemplating the idea of calling the 19-year-old earlier than expected.

However, it must said that Rovella is still a work in progress – as proven during the match he played against his parent club last Sunday – and thus, an early move to a top club could end up hindering his progress.

Wilfried Singo (Torino)

The explosive fullback has all the tools to become one of the best players in his position, and he seems to be progressing well under the guidance of Davide Nicola.

Nonetheless, the Ivorian is far from being a finished article, and it is hard to see him earn a decent portion of playing time with a big club just yet.

Dusan Vlahovic (Fiorentina)

The Serbian is undoubtedly one of the brightest talents in the league. Actually, he can be considered as on the best pure strikers in Serie A.

Despite Fiorentina’s struggles, the 21-year-old bas so far taken his tally up to 15 goals in the league, and we’re curious to see how he would fare if the Tuscans manage to improve by next season as promised.

The young bomber has no lack of suitors, but time remains on his side, and accelerating his career path could end backfiring.
