Former Inter Owner Massimo Moratti “Deligthed and Relieved” for Title

Long-time president Massimo Moratti reacted to the Scudetto, particularly complimenting the stewardship of Antonio Conte and Steven Zhang and the performances of Romelu Lukaku. “I feel relieved, I am delighted that Inter returned to winning ways, I feel like a burden has been lifted off my shoulders, and I think there are the premises to continue on this path,” he said in an interview with Sky Sport.

“Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are exceptional players that should not be taken for granted. The former is the symbol of this team, he scores and makes life easier for everybody else. He is a highly intelligent person, he improved a lot during his time in Milan. He is really a champion, and Conte was correct in wanting him at all costs. Moreover, in my mind, Nicolò Barella is the one that best embodies the Inter character, he had a special season. There have been few standout performances, they had no weaknesses.”

“Antonio Conte was tenacious and resilient. He managed to carry out his purpose by shielding and shaping the squad. He was incredible. I liken him to José Mourinho and Helenio Herrera, which were very serious professionals. Maybe the players wanted to relax a little at times, but he continued to transmit his strength. I think his Inter resembled Giovanni Trapanni’s one, which was very charismatic and always a little surprising.”

“Steven Zhang is young, but he is empathetic and attentive. He is very humble, and you notice right away that he is very knowledgeable but also willing to learn. He is smart, I simply gave him some advice about the club and the fans. I told him to be serene and direct while communicating with the supporters.”
