Former Inter Star Has Hard Time Accepting Harsh Reality

Former Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana has quickly come to regret forcing the club to sanction his transfer to Manchester United in the summer. From one of the world’s most highly-rated stoppers to an Old Trafford scapegoat, the Cameroon international has come a long way ‘from hero to zero.’

And it took him less than six months to tarnish his reputation. Whether he was a one-season wonder at Inter or the new setting isn’t suiting him, the 27-year-old already made a constant media target of himself in England. Signed as a long-term replacement for United legend David de Gea, the Cameroonian has massively flopped in his early days at Old Trafford.

With Man Utd earning the wooden spoon in Champions League Group A and facing an uphill task to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League, many have identified Onana as one of the main culprits. However, the former Inter star has none of it as he vows to show his critics what he’s made of.

Do you want to tell me that in just six months the best goalkeeper in the last edition of the Champions League has become the worst in the world? I don’t think so,” he said, as quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio

I know everything will be fine here at Manchester United. It’s only a matter of time, you’ll see what happens,” Onana finished.

While Onana’s career has been on a downward trajectory since leaving Inter, his former employers are thriving. Not only have Simone Inzaghi’s men made it out of the Champions League group stages, but they’re leading the way in Serie A.
